Andrea Gauld, Pharmd, bcacp

Andrea Gauld, PharmD, BCACP, is an Associate Professor in the Clinical and Administrative Sciences Department at Notre Dame of Maryland University’s School of Pharmacy. She is board certified in ambulatory care and completed her post-graduate training at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System upon completion of her Doctor of Pharmacy at Mercer University. At NDMU she coordinates courses in women’s health, pulmonary disorders and performance enhancing drugs in addition to precepting Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences for fourth year students. She is currently co-chair of the assessment committee and member of the student wellness taskforce which continues to develop the wellness curriculum for Doctor of Pharmacy students. Dr. Gauld is also the clinical pharmacist on faculty at MedStar Franklin Square Family Medicine Residency Program where is coordinates the pharmacy curriculum, educates medical residents and provides an elective pharmacy rotation for residents. She facilitates a pharmacist-run chronic disease state management clinic and co-facilitates a behavioral health clinic. Dr. Gauld is a member of MedStar Health’s Pediatric Ambulatory Care Best Practices Committee in which she assists in making health system-wide guidelines. She is also an assistant professor in clinical family medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine where she assists in clerkship teaching at MedStar Franklin Square’s Family Health Center. Finally, Dr. Gauld is a registered yoga teacher after completing her 200-hour training in 2018.

richard bruno, md, MPH

Dr. Richard Bruno is a primary care physician, board certified in both family medicine and preventive medicine. He works at a Federally Qualified Health Center in Baltimore, MD. He has also served on the boards of the American Academy of Family Physicians, National Physicians Alliance, Physicians for a National Health Program, American Association of Public Health Physicians, MedChi the Maryland state medical society, Hampden Family Center, Sugar Free Kids Maryland, and Friends of the Hampden School #55. He sits on the ethics panel of the Baltimore City Public Schools board of commissioners. One of his main clinical focuses is obesity prevention, including sugary drink interventions at local cornerstones and cooking classes for kids. He and his wife of thirteen years have two children and live in Baltimore City where they love hiking, biking, and cooking together. He attained a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, doctorate of medicine from Oregon Health and Science University, and a master of public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. He graduated from the combined Family & Preventive Medicine residency program at MedStar Franklin Square and Johns Hopkins.

deborah dunn, pac, mba

Deborah Dunn, PAC, MBA is a family practice physician assistant and the Trans Health Coordinator of the LGBT Resource Center for Chase Brexton Health Care. In addition to graduating from Howard University’s physician assistant program in 1983, she holds an MBA from Johns Hopkins University. In her position at Chase Brexton, she provides leadership and coordination of care for transgender-identified patients, establishes best practices for medical transgender care, trains other medical providers, provides consultation to external organizations on transgender-related issues including employee transition, engages in advocacy at the state level, and identifies research and funding opportunities related to transgender care. She recently served on a national team of expert transgender medical professionals to write guidelines for treating and prescribing medications for adults and adolescents who were transitioning. She also was part of the team that wrote Gender: Joy (Journey of Youth), a multidisciplinary program written for trans/gender diverse youth, adolescents, and families, which since its launch on January 1,2017 has 1,300 patients. She has presented at numerous national conferences, engaged in strategic planning with several nonprofit organizations, and volunteered throughout the local community. Debb Dunn, PAC , has completed the courses towards certification for WPATH. She was just rewarded the Physician Assistant of the year 2018 award from MAPA (Maryland Academy of Physician Assistants).

Aaron George, D.O. (3)

Aaron George, DO, FAAFP, FCpp

Dr. Aaron George is the Director of Medical Education and Assistant Program Director for the Meritus Family Medicine Residency Program.  He is a 2012 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and subsequently obtained his Family Medicine Residency training at Duke University Health System.  Dr. George was an Andlinger fellow in health policy with the Center for Public Health in Vienna, Austria where he worked on primary care workforce and academic development.  He recently served on the payment and practice tactic teams for the Family Medicine for America’s Health program, and is a regular contributor as author to Medical Economics.  He is also a clinical Associate Professor at Penn State College of Medicine where he teaches graduate coursework on the history of medicine. He has been awarded the FMEC Emerging Leaders award, the Bristol-Myers Squibb award for excellence in graduate medical education, as well as being named one of the 40 under 40 physicians by the Pennsylvania Medical Society.  He currently serves on the Board of the Family Medicine Education Consortium.  His areas of interest include advancement of community and population health as well as health policy and economics.  He resides in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Kelly Ryan, do, caqsm

Kelly Ryan, DO is Board certified in Family Medicine and was fellowship trained in Primary Care Sports Medicine, with additional certification of qualification for care for the athletic population. Dr. Ryan specializes in treating concussions, orthopedic injuries, injury prevention, nutrition, and training needs of athletes. She is Co-Medical Director of the Horsemen’s Health Program at Maryland Racetracks, which is a collaboration between Medstar Sports Medicine, Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association, Maryland Jockey Club and the Stronach group. Dr. Ryan provides on-site medical care for the jockeys and horsemen including but not limited to acute and chronic injury care and prevention, as well as assistance with mental health concerns.   In addition to providing care for all at the racetrack, Dr. Ryan treats patients at the Franklin Square Family Health Center and MedStar PromptCare, and teaches residents as Sports Medicine Faculty, part of the Medstar Franklin Square Family Medicine Residency Program. She also is an Associate Professor at Georgetown Medical School, Team Physician for Towson University College, and Team Physician for the professional indoor arena football team, the Baltimore Brigade. Finally, Dr. Ryan is a member of the Jockey Sports Medicine Working group in relationship with Jockeys Guild and University of Kentucky concentrating on improving rider safety, and is also a provider for the Concussion Program at Medstar Sports Medicine.  She also has recently joined the Safety and Integrity Alliance Advisory Board for the National Thoroughbred Racing Association.

patrick brent smith, mD, MSc, MLS, FAAFp

Dr. Smith is a family medicine/sports medicine trained physician in private practice in Cleveland, MS.  Board certified in family medicine, he also carries a CAQ in sports medicine from the University of Alabama.  Dr. Smith is active in the American Academy of Family Physicians as well as the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians, and currently serves as the Chair for the Mississippi High School Activities Association Sports Medicine Advisory Committee.

Tobie Smith, MD, MPH, MEd, FAAFP, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Family Medicine at Georgetown University School of Medicine where she is the Course Director for Ambulatory Care, Acting Course Director for the Family Medicine Clerkship and Faculty Advisor for the Student run HOYA Clinic, and Street Medicine Interest group. Dr. Smith has served as Medical Director of Health Care for the Homeless in Baltimore County, MD, while also a faculty member at MedStar Franklin Square Family Medicine Residency Program She is a graduate of University of Texas at Austin (BA, MEd Kinesiology), Stony Brook School of Medicine (MD), and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (MPH). She completed her residency in Family Medicine at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa in San Antonio, TX and a Fellowship in Community Health Leadership Development at Georgetown University in partnership with Unity Health Care. She also serves as a Physicians for Human Rights Asylum Network Provider. Dr Smith currently chairs the Work Group on Primary Care and Public Health Integration of the American Academy of Family Physician’s Commission on Health of the Public and Science. As a former member of USA Swimming National Team she now serves on the Board of Directors for the United States Anti-Doping Agency. Her interests include underserved care, public health and primary care integration, homeless health care, gun violence prevention, and health equity.

In an effort to keep our content free of commercial bias, the conference will not be accepting corporate sponsorship. It will be fully funded through registration fees.
